From unranked, to debuting at #27 on the ESPN Top 100, to Cameron Indoor. Oluchi Okananwa has committed to Duke University! Okananwa is the 3rd ESPN Top 30 recruit joining #3 Jadyn Donovan and #29 Delaney Thomas.
I was fortunate enough to have front-row seats to the grind and saw how much work Okananwa put in behind the scenes to get to this point. I was always mind-blown that she went unranked for so long. When you see the speed, athleticism, rebounding, and dynamic playmaking, it was baffling not to see her on that list. Yet, she kept putting the work in, elevating her game, and adding something to her bag every week. The jump shot became more fluid, the basket attacks were more ferocious, and by the end of this past summer, Okananwa dominated every stage she stepped foot on.
On the court and off, it is hard not to be an Oluchi fan. I have zero doubt she will have a successful 4 years at Duke because of her work ethic, mental makeup, and drive to be the best.
